What about not having a regulator in there at all...just use the cartech to set the baseline NA pressure. I can't remember if anyone has tried this.
-
Whats the problem with putting an AN tap at the end of the fuel rail, block off the orginal FPR mount, and use an SX/Paxton/etc... regulator? Am I missing something here (it has been a long day).

Hey guys the AEM FPR is going for $160 at the groupbuycenter

yeah Phil said he did this. he couldnt get his base pressure down with the B&M so he just tapped the rail (actually the JR adapter for the FPR I think) and ran a line straight to whatever FPR hes using.
dunno why nobody else is doing this.

In regards to running w/o the OE FPR, I think JRCivic said that "on boost" performance would be fine, but that between 10" vac. and 0 vac, fuel pressure would rise later (closer to 0 vac.) and faster. This could make "tip-in" detonation problems worse.
I've heard of a few people doing this and have yet to hear any complaints though...
Maybe I'll try it. We'll see.

I've run the cartech regulator without the OE regulator and relults were as follows-
Lowest pressure obtainable at idle:
w/ Walbro GS342 18-20psi
w/ OE Pump 10psi!!
It didn't seem to have any more tip in problem but you really just set the Cartech where you want it at 0 vac and it rises quickly and still reaches the requirements you set for under boost.
I got the idea from Jim when I couldn't get it to not throw a CE light at idle with my 380's.
Last I heard he was running like this with his 310 or 320's.
I used a block off "o"ring plate to hose barb I've had from some crappy replacement regulator I got from Landspeed when I got the Blower.
